Slippering save

The sliding save is also known as the Swedish save or Scandinavian save. It is a technical gesture that is basically used to stop low shots from 9 metres, although it can be used from close range shots. The bigger the goalkeeper is, the more useful it is, as he can save mid-range shots with this gesture.

The goalkeeper slides sideways with the heel of the shoe of the leg in the area of the save, while the opposite leg pushes off slightly. Both legs must finish the gesture in the “fent crossing” (athletic runner) position. The body should be as upright as possible, avoiding being smaller. The hands should try to grasp the ball or we can separate them to cover more of the goal.

It is a technical gesture that requires good flexibility.
