The spagat is a save that we use to stop shots in proximity. It is usually a surprising action, in which we try to occupy as much of the goal as possible.
Starting from the base position, we quickly move forward and propel ourselves vertically with both legs. We open our legs in the air, with our hands as far apart as possible. The legs do not go straight up, but we try to raise them in two steps. First the thigh and then the rest of the leg (as when we stop at half height with the leg).
To be able to perform this movement it is important to have good flexibility and strength in the lower body. A possible progression of work could be:
-
-
- Vertical jumps with both feet at the same time lifting the knees.
- Vertical jumps with both feet at the same time lifting the knees apart.
- One step and vertical jump with both feet at the same time, lifting the knees apart.
- One step and vertical jump with both feet at the same time trying to lift the legs in two steps
- One step and vertical jump with both feet at the same time trying to lift the legs in two steps. Arms up to complete the spagat
-
It is important that in the step we take we support our feet well in order to balance ourselves and not jump forward (more complicated to lift the legs).
