Endurance in goalkeeping work is associated with the displacements we make. We need to maintain the speed of our displacements throughout the training session or match. This allows us to get in front of the thrower as quickly as possible. In this way, we have more time to observe.
We will work on endurance through HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) work in which we combine very intense actions in a short period of time with rest periods in between. A situation very similar to the one we do in goal.
The proposal for the specific endurance work is based on displacements (frontal, lateral and oblique) and rope-jumpings.The first are the usual displacements in goal, those that we need to perform throughout the match at maximum speed. The jumps are performed partly to work on endurance and partly to work on the coordination of the goalkeepers. They are done in a simple way and it is a motivating work for the goalkeepers.
